Amazingly, both
the M1 and M6 were fairly free of traffic and the weather was good for
most of the journey.
We arrived to find
that there had been an administrative mix up and no 'pack' awaited us.
Our table had also been incorrectly allocated, but undeterred, we pressed
on unpacking everything (though somewhat intimidated by a nearby red
and black Chinese-themed entry, containing a stunning royal iced pagoda).
However, by the time we had hung the drapes and arranged all our entries,
(the only casualty of the journey being a broken leaf), we were encouraged
that our table looked quite impressive - the theme of Let's Party worked
around conga-dancing pink elephants!
Though our table
raised lots of smiles amongst passing visitors and the judges comments
were complimentary, unfortunately it did not secure a prize, but very
deservedly, an item of bas relief work, completed by Suzanne Ware, our
Chairman, was awarded the Inspiration Table 'Best Plaque' trophy. This
really raised our spirits and the smile on the face of the BSG's Honorary
President, as she presented the award, had to be seen to be believed
(could anyone have guessed that Mary is a member of Luton Branch?).
